If there is a common thread across most organizations it is that their single most valuable asset is their people
Because of that, caring for those people and providing an attractive work environment has become one of the highest priorities for companies in the current climate of labour shortages and recruitment challenges. We are there to help from both a management and retention perspective. One of our team members is a Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) with many years of experience creating and overseeing HR best practices and is available to our clients to consult both operationally and strategically as required.
In order to create and maintain a workplace that is attractive to really great team members a few key foundational pieces must be in place, as follows.
- Payroll – payroll must be administered flawlessly as there is not much that will depress morale faster than any hint that a paycheque may not be correct. It is critical that every team member is able to trust that they are receiving everything that they are due when it is due. Payroll simply must be correct every time, no exceptions.
- ESA Compliance – compliance with the BC Employment Standards Act is a given and is a minimum standard for any business. The good news is you won’t need to spend any time thinking about it as we will provide any necessary guidance to ensure compliance with the ESA in all your dealings with your team.
- Best Practices – consistency across an organization is very helpful in fostering a relaxed environment for your team, helping them feel secure in how they will be treated in any given situation. Without creating unnecessary complexity or complications, it can be very helpful to codify some of your processes so everyone knows where they stand, including management and ownership. We can help with everything from employment contracts to employee handbooks.
In addition to helping build a sound HR foundation for your company, we are there to assist with the day-to-day issues which can arise as well as those that may not be encountered as regularly, such as recruiting, discipline and termination of employees. It is a significant source of comfort to know that when an HR issue arises you have an HR professional on your team to help navigate through them.
