Trust, Respect, Professionalism and Positivity
Trust and respect are the foundation upon which all successful relationships must be built. We feel respect must be free and absolute and trust earned through action over time; we pride ourselves in the giving of the former and the earning of the latter.
One of the ways we show respect to our clients is by always taking the time to listen to their questions and concerns and to never allow anyone to feel neglected or unheard. We then work to earn our clients’ trust by providing the appropriate services in support of what truly matters to them, which we have ascertained by taking the time to really listen.
Professionalism is about how well prepared a team is to do its job, and how it goes about doing that job. Professionalism consists of competence, ethics and deportment, and we insist on the very highest levels of all three.
- Competence: In order to ensure competence, we always meet or exceed all professional development requirements of our various professional associations and maintain relationships with specialists and consultants in practice areas we see less often. A good example of this would be cross-border taxation issues, which can be extremely complex and make the engagement of a subject-matter expert a prudent choice to ensure our clients’ interests are protected.
- Ethics: Ethics in a business setting usually suggests a framework outlining acceptable behavior in situations perhaps not clearly defined by laws or regulations. Ethical dilemmas can sometimes arise in business, and if they do we resolve them through communication inside the team, with our clients and with our professional associations, but always filtered through the lens of our philosophy and core values.
- Deportment: It is important to not only be a professional but also to act as one. We define this as being not only competent and ethical but also respectful, strong, caring and kind.

Positivity is how we give back to the world. We believe in tempering strength with kindness and using both to enhance the well-being of our clients and our team. Positive interactions tend to feed on themselves and the ripple effects can spread far and wide, benefitting not only our professional world but also the greater community.
